One of life's realities is that we all will suffer loss. It comes in many forms: death of loved ones, unexpected breakups, unemployment, etc. Unfortunately, for many people, loss is a constant experience in their lives. And the result of these devastating experiences is an overwhelming sorrow: grief. At times, the pain is so tangible that it is difficult to breakthrough.
So, how does one navigate through grief and live?
Isolation is counterintuitive to the healing process. When cut off from the world, you cannot experience liberation from grief. It is vital that you have a qualified support group, made up of persons who have shared similar occurrences and overcame them. Isolation says that, "I am the only one going through this loss". But, that's a lie. And the only way you're going to break free from that lie is to be connected to a healthy group of people.
Purpose is something that we all have. You're living today and reading this for that very reason. When suffering loss one of the first things people question is their purpose. "Why am I here?" "Why do I have to suffer?" Very hard questions, right? Well, your purpose requires that you fight the grief. Do not allow it to swallow up the gift inside of you. Get out of bed! Shower! Brush your teeth! Get dressed! Endure and battle your way to the fulfillment of your purpose.
Cry as often as necessary. Admit and release.
You are loved.
You are understood.
You are needed on this earth. Take your time, but remember: life turns around.
