Happy Tuesday to you!
Another strenuous work day is in the books. Your mind is all over the place, and you have no clue on how to settle down. There's only 15-20 minutes to spare before your children, or spouse, make another request. You decide the best place in the house to hide out is in your bathroom (of course, with the door locked). You sit on the toilet with phone in hand, perusing the internet for relaxation techniques. Somehow, you end up here...on a website you've never heard of before...with lots of scriptures...and sporadic posts. You wonder, "How does this blog post serve me any good?" Then, you get ready to exit out of the tab... until you see the following image.
You say to yourself, "I'm an adult with a mortgage and three children and responsibilities! Who has time to write down feelings, let alone color?" The answer is, you do. You do have the time to write down how the day's events impacted your thoughts and behavior. You do have the time to take your children's old box of crayons/colored pencils and doodle in a coloring book. At the end of the day, it's either this or die from an illness related to stress you did not make time to address.
While the image above may seem trivial, treat it as a catalyst. Consider it to be a the prompt that led you to take better care of your mental state. If coloring or journaling isn't your preference, at least this image led you to think of a million other things you would much rather do with your free time. Perhaps, you would rather drink a glass of wine and watch TV. Perhaps, you enjoy bike riding on weekends but never thought to fit in a family ride around the neighborhood on a weeknight. Whatever you choose, let it be constructive and make sure it is not work related. Reclaim your peace of mind!
