Happy Monday to you!

It is very easy to forget why you started this journey. You were in love, and nothing was going to keep you from pursuing your passions. Each time you released your work to the masses, you felt a surge of energy. You were excited to share your expertise. You were thrilled to see people relate to your gift. Then, one day things changed. You became more consumed with increasing your audience. You began to chase dollars and cents. You wanted your light to shine the brightest. Subsequently, the quality of your work took a nose dive. People are not responding to your efforts the way they did in times past. Your work is no longer relevant. Besides, you no longer feel a connection to your purpose. You are burned out, and every aspect of your life conveys this truth.

Desperation. Greed. Confusion. Exhaustion. If you continue this unhealthy lifestyle, all your desires will slip from your grasp. The little you have now is falling apart. Meanwhile, the pressure to succeed is mounting. You look in the mirror and cannot recognize who you are in this moment.

It’s time. You’ve known this for a while. The work you are doing presently is not in alignment with the purpose you were created to fulfill. You must disconnect to reconnect. You must curtail your consumption of everything in order to have anything to give. Seek counsel from people outside your peer group. Stop talking so you can hear. Lavish in silence so you can meet with knowledge and wisdom. Deconstruct your routine so that you can rediscover yourself. Understand— this sabbatical is a key component to regaining the strength necessary for the next leg of your journey.

Love,

Hebrews 12:11 Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. 12 Therefore strengthen the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees, 13 and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.
