Happy Wednesday to you!
How was your day? Let me know in the comment section. I love reading your thoughts and getting to know you. If you normally pass by quietly, make today special and leave a response. The interaction encourages me, greatly. Due to the fact that I was under the weather, today's post is very late. However, the saying goes, "Better late than never!"
Anyways, it is the middle of the week. I say this often, but the weeks continue to go by rapidly. 2015 will be here in a flash! That fact makes me want to cherish every moment we have left in the current year. I hope you are making the necessary progress to complete this week's goals. I have a lot of goals to accomplish within the next two days. Therefore, it is time for me to work smarter! One of the best ways to improve productivity is to have an accountability partner.
Now, I can write the typical post concerning the significance of an accountability partner. However, it is more valuable for you to know what to look for when trying to fill that position. The following list contains vital characteristics that a person must have in order to be an accountability partner. If I have left something out that you deem necessary, leave your response. For my list, I chose qualities that will facilitate the best mentor-mentee relationship.
You should be able to confide in this person without fear that he or she will share your personal information to others. (With the exception that the information you share deals with thoughts to harm yourselves or others. Then, your accountability should inform an authority that can prevent the harmful occurrence.)
The person should be (willingly) available to provide counsel, and resources, when it is in their power to do so. (It should go without saying that both persons involved in this type of relationship should respect each other's time.)
An accountability partner should not aim to boast in his or her expertise. Rather, the person should condescend to your level, walking you through the process with full attention.
Certainly, he or she should be an expert in the field in which they are providing instruction or counsel. You cannot grow if everyone in your circle is at or below your level of understanding.
An excellent accountable partner is someone who possesses their own mentor and is always willing to learn. Knowledge is infinite; therefore he or she must be willing to remain up-to-date on current trends, as well as historical information.
You should listen to someone who encourages you to be the best form of yourself. Never heed a person that encourages you to harm yourself, others, or the environment.
The person should be excited about helping you through the maturation process. The individual should feel a personal sense of accomplishment when seeing you fulfill your purpose. Also, a quality accountability partner is never jealous of your accomplishments.
A quality accountability partner should be able to know when to speak, how to address matters appropriately, and to what extent his or her service is needed.
I hope this list will be of value to you as you continue your journey toward self-fulfillment.
